Be Skipper For A Day We have recently completed a major refit of the Gannet boat acquired from Stainsacre Residential Centre near Whitby. The work included the installation of a new diesel engine which has made the boat more reliable and easier to handle. For a small charge, school, youth and community groups are able to charter the Gannet to explore the River Tees upriver from Middlesbrough through the Tees Barrage to Yarm. The boat, which has a maximum speed of 6 knots, is fully equipped and capable of carrying 12 passengers. We can supply life jackets and waterproof clothing as required. All we ask is that the person in charge of the group spends a day or two with us training in the safe handling and operation of the boat. For more details contact Trevor Forster.
